Growth and physiological behavior of chrysanthemum in relation of degree-day development
Although chrysanthemum blooming (Dendranthema grandiflorum) is regulated by the photoperiod, temperature is considered a important on factor in its growth and development, however, in a few studies have been used the method of degree-days of development (GDD) in the floriculture. For this, aimed evaluated the growth and physiologic behaviorof chrysanthemum cv. White Diamondaccording to GDD. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with five replications and nine colleted, treatments being considered the collection times. Each useful parcel was composed byone pot with 3 plants, totalizing 15 plants per evaluation. Mathematical models of growth have been validated after adjustment of the data and the model calibration and may be used for making decisions about the growth of cv. White Diamond. The GDD did not influenced the time to flowering, howeverthe lowest rate of accumulation of GDD promoted intense vegetative growth and delayed flower opening. On the other hand, the highest rates of accumulation of GDD observed during cultivation in 2007 propitiated lower vegetative growth, rapid flower opening and better development of the inflorescence in relation to the cultivation of 2012. Regardless of the phenological stage and the accumulation of GDD, chrysanthemum kept the carbon assimilation. GDD accumulations reduced the Relative Growth Rate, Leaf Area Ratio and Specific Leaf Area and increased Net Assimilation Rate. It is required 850.1 GDG for the vegetative phase being completed and 867.6 GDD for the reproductive phase be initiated. The accumulation of sucrose and reducing sugar remained turgid and the fully expanded inflorescences.pt_BR
