Resumo: Art and science complement each other for a holistic understanding of reality, enabling transformative and emancipatory formation. In this sense, this work aims to report and discuss the experiences and reflections provided by the development of a mini-course of Environmental Education and Art, from the perspective of teacher training. The mini-course was part of the "I Conference of Teacher Training" held at the Federal University of Lavras, MG. The construction of the mini-course counted on the reading of the problematic lecturers of the city of Lavras, registered through photographs and later edited with montages. There were also artworks made from palm leaves, a clay sculpture, the presentation of a staged poem and cartoons dealing with the environmental issues depicted in the photographs. From these artistic works, several discussions were held on topics such as the alienation of work, uneven distribution of income, the role of large companies in environmental problems and the issue of garbage in cities. The construction and realization of mini-course played an important role in the training of teachers, who in contact with these issues through art will have essential resources for a practice of transforming teaching. Art, as a result of human work, allows a reading of reality considering different social spheres and contributing to a critical, reflexive and transformative citizen formation.
