Abstract: In everyday school life, the teacher faces several problems that go beyond what was planned, so it is necessary to develop professionals aware of their practice, critical and reflective towards an emancipatory education. Thus, this article aims to discuss the importance of reflective practice in teacher training and how reflective journals can contribute to that reflective process, besides guiding the reader to write these journals. For this paper, we have written a literature review on what the authors discuss about that reflective practice and how it can be achieved through journals. This instrument shows to be relevant to the process of teacher education in a critically reflective perspective.
