Resumo: This research has as object of study the teaching of orality in schools, more specifically, the questions presented by teachers of basic education about the work with orality. In this sense, the objective of this investigation was to elaborate a proposal of material on the theme of orality, in a theoretical and methodological perspective, that answered the doubts, presented by teachers. The questions that triggered the production of the material that constitutes this research were collected through Google Forms and answered by the author of this paper. From the questions made by the teachers, a theoretical research was made, aiming to find the foundations for the construction of a discussion proposal. In this sense, it was necessary to bring together different theoretical perspectives. In addition, proposals for activities for working with orality in the classroom were presented. Thus, the product can be configured as a Study Guide, aimed at the training of Portuguese language teachers in elementary schools. From the work done, it was possible to present a consolidated of theories that deal with the theme of orality in the classroom, highlighting theoretical and methodological aspects, but also values and beliefs related to the issue. The results point to the question that orality, as well as the other discursive linguistic practices, demands a formation that contemplates the aspects related to the specificities of the oral modality, the adequacy of methodological procedures and didactic resources, the didactic activities, but also , the values attributed by teachers to this practice. In addition, the understanding that orality contributes to the improvement of skills related to the public use of language, which, in turn, expands the possibilities of social participation, with ethical and citizen commitment.
