Abstract: Considering the multimodality present in the texts that circulate in society, the current work aims to demonstrate a discussion about the insertion of multimodal genres in the teachinglearning process. In order to achieve the proposed objective, this article sought to carry out a theoretical research based on the assumptions of Textual Linguistics and Multimodality Theory, based on the studies developed by Elias (2017), Antunes (2005), Dionísio (2007), Hemais (2010) and Vieira (2015). Such proposal is justified by the fact that it seeks contextualized and meaningful teaching for students, contemplating the multimodal texts that are present in the social daily life. Thus, the study brings reflections on the possibilities of retextualization of digital texts, more specifically of the tweet genre. Thus, it can be concluded that multimodal texts contribute significantly to the training of readers and producers of texts, in order to favor the development of skills that are required by interactions in the information society.
