Abstract: Continuing training courses are important not only as teacher updating actions, but also as spaces for dialogue and collective construction of pedagogical practices, with the university playing an important role in this process, as a partner institution in promoting these actions. In this way, an extension mini-course in continuing education on the immune system and vaccines, and their themes, was organized for basic education teachers who work in teaching Science and Biology, with the aim of analyzing whether this mini-course brings contributions to training and teaching practice related to the topic. The themes of the immune system and vaccines are included in the curriculum bases and should be developed in primary and secondary education. In this way, identifying what students know about the topic can contribute to the (re)construction of teaching-learning strategies on the topic. Therefore, the aim was also to analyze the perception and knowledge of high school students on the subject of the immune system and vaccines. As a data collection method, questionnaires were used and for their analysis, Bardin's content analysis was used as a theoretical methodological framework. It was possible to identify that students have elaborate knowledge regarding the topic, but have some difficulty in concepts related to it. It was also identified that the mini-course provided a training space, contributing to scientific education on the topic, from an environment that favored reflection, dialogue and learning, therefore contributing to training and teaching practice related to the topic.
