Abstract: The genus Cercospora has species that cause diseases in important crops causing yield losses worldwide. These pathogens are commonly associated with leaf spot symptoms, but can cause injury of flowers, fruits, bracts, pedicels and seeds in various plant families. This review aims to describe the different forms of penetration of the genus Cercospora, causing diseases in crops of commercial importance, such as C. beticola in sugar beet, cassava in C. heningsii, C. coffeicola in coffee, C. sojina in soybean, C. zeae-maydis in corn, C. ricinella in castor and C. kikuchii in soybean. The penetration may occur through the stomata of the leaf of the host can also occur through the epidermal tissue injury and which occur by physical force and/or the action of enzymes directly through the epidermis of the host body. And for the development of the germ tube, different species may develop one or more germ tubes. Then, Cercospora spp has different ways of penetration depending of your host.
