Abstract: Among the various forage species that can be used to minimize the effect of seasonality of forage production in the dry season, pearl millet is being explored as an alternative to that period. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the production and bromatologic composition of two pearl millet genotypes, managed three times, set based on the developmental stage of culture. The design was randomized blocks in factorial scheme 2 x 3 (two pearl millet genotypes: BN2 and ADR500 and three phenological stages: pre-boot stage (36 days after sowing - DAS), pre-flowering (45 DAS) and early flowering (52 DAS), with four replications. The results showed that the genotype 500 ADR results presented higher production of dry matter and crude protein content in relation to genotype BN2. Better nutritive values were obtained at pre boot. However, to associate forage production and quality, 45 DAS is recommended as the best stage, because forage accumulation at this time was proportionally higher than reduction on quality.
