A cadeia agroindustrial do queijo no Mercosul: uma simulação de custos

Abstract

This dissertation has a purpose to evaluate, by economic ways, the cheese agriindustrial range competitivity, between Minas Gerais and Argentine. Specifically, it aims by the comparison of production, transport and comercialization costs of cheese, making simulated studies by importation of argentinean productive resources. The metodology comprises the input cost composition in the milk production cost scheme, that they were additioned to the transport costs and compared to the brazilian inputs prices. The resulting percentual variation was pondered in cheese production cost scheme. The study was made by current price level (1991) and updated price level (1994), taking as structure three different situations: (a) milk and cheese production cost (Brazil/MG) by the utilization of inputs to argentinean prices, without considering transport cost: it has resulted in a decrease of 20,91% in Minas Gerais'milk production cost and 9,6% in cheese industrialization cost; (b) by the utilization of imported inputs with highway transport cost: it has resulted in an increase of 9,75% and 5,13% in Minas Gerais'milk production and cheese industrialization, respectively; (c) by the utilization of imported inputs with hydro-highways transport costs: it has resulted in a decrease of 7,95% and 3,68% in Minas Gerais'milk production and cheese industrialization, respectively. The argentinean cheese comes to Belo Horizonte's market, in a level more lower than Minas Gerais'cheese price level. The Minas Gerais, cheese price levels were 138,33% and 67,64% more expensive than argentinean price levels, considering highway transport costs, by updated and current price levels, respectively. The Minas Gerais'cheese price levels were 127,06% and 58,45% more expensive than argentinean price levels, by update and current price levels, respectively, when hydro-highways transports were used.
