Resumo: In the plant physiology, limitations of nitrogen (N) or sulfur (S) are expressed at the convergence point of the assimilatory routes, which causes accumulation or deficiency of synthesized products. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of N and S interaction in the development of crop beans. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse and in pots containing 4 dm3 of soil, in an entirely randomized design, in a factorial scheme 2 x 5, under two N rates (80 and 120 mg dm-3) and five S rates (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 mg dm-3), with three repetitions per treatment. Treatments were applied to the pots and seeded beans. The experiment was conducted for 80 days; at the end of cycle, plants were separated into grain and shoot. Plant samples of shoots were dried, ground and analyzed for N and S contents. The productivity of bean grains were influenced by nitrogen and sulfate fertilization, which was not observed for the production of shoot dry matter. Nitrogen fertilization interferes in the S absorption by bean crop . The addition of N and S changes the N/S relation in the bean crop. The N/S relation in bean crop was directly influenced by the addition of N and S. The values for N/S did not correlate to the grain production or shoot dry matter.
