| Resumo: | Informations on illuminance levels and their effects on animal and worker welfare in intensive production systems are scarce. A view of the work environment facilitates the understanding of difficulties, discomfort, dissatisfaction, the occurrence of accidents and occupational diseases. In this context, an experiment was carried out in Itaberaí, Goiás, Brazil, during the period from April 20th to May 8th, 2018, in two climatized broiler houses to evaluate the light environment. The average light levels during the daytime are above the minimum considered values for birds, but the night illumination, ie, provided by the shed lamps is considered low. For workers in these sheds, the ambient light is well below the recommended by the relevant standard in the country. |
