Abstract: The problems of water scarcity, due to low water availability site, contamination of surface and groundwater resources, absence or poor distribution of water on account of public utility, coupled with misuse of drinking water that reaches households, suggests looking for alternatives for solving these problems. The capture of rainwater is one of the possibilities to mitigate the effects of this shortage. From this perspective, this study aims to build and test the functionality of a System of Rainwater Utilization Without Pump Electric (SAAC-SBE), made from recyclable materials, low cost, such as PET bottles. For this purpose, the system was built and installed a single-family residential unit and tested their efficiency, effectiveness and economic feasibility and environmental, during the year 2011. The result was satisfactory, stating that the system is efficient, effective and environmentally and economically feasible, for storing rainwater from recyclable materials, low cost and with little waste without using electric discharge pumping. The use of SAAC-SBE also contribute to promoting education about environmental preservation and conservation of natural resources.
