Abstract: The fatigue is identified as a limiting factor to physical performance and therefore carbohydrate supplementationhas been studied as a determinant factor for improving aerobic performance. It’s suggested that low carbohydrate availability is injurious to performance. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbohydrate supplementation through a super compensation diet during a period of 7 days, in aerobic performance of physically active subjects. Seven male students, coursing physical education at Itaúna University, were evaluated. The subjects were submitted to 2 progressive maximal testson treadmill, one previously and the other after the nutritional supplementation containing 70% CHO, 20% fat and 10% protein. In the “previous test” a 57.22 ± 5.52 ml.kg.min-1of VO2máxwas obtained, while in the “after test”, 56.57 ± 6.95 ml.kg.min-1of VO2máxwas obtained. There wasn’t a significant difference between the results. Some authors suggested the improvement in performance due to nutritional supplementation, showing us the necessity of further studies in this area which is of great importance for performance improvement.
