Resumo: The present study aims to identify the impressions that the activities of literary reading and storytelling provoke in the child, the purpose of analyzing the understanding and relationships constructed between literary reading, narrative art and affection. This is a qualitative approach research, carried out through an action research, based on the application of activities of literary reading and storytelling, with children aged 4 and 5 years, from a class of early childhood education of a school of private educational network, from a city of Campo das Vertentes, MG. The activities consisted of 3 distinct proposals: first, when the teacher tells a story to her student, second when reading the story of a book and third when a book of images read together. each reading activity, conversations were held with the children, about their impressions about the activity of literary reading and storytelling. analysis of children's statements based on the studies of Sisto (2001, 2007), (2004) on storytelling in Cosson's studies (2016), on reading literary studies by Wallon (1999) with the conception of affectivity. The initial observations indicate that reading happens from emotions, showing that children who have contact with narratives enhance imagination, creativity and the ability to discern and criticize.
