Abstract: This study aims to analyze the language acquisition by a child (from 11 months and 3 days to 1 year 9 months and 15 days) with typical development in a longitudinal study. Specifically, the child’s sound acquisition is evaluated. The studies were conducted with focus on the phonological acquisition of Brazilian Portuguese (PB) and repair strategies commonly used by children in acquisition (LAMPRECHT, 2004; KAIL, 2013). To carry out this research, periodic audio-video recordings were performed in the child’s family environment with the involvement of parents and close people, so that the child felt comfortable to produce the sounds naturally and spontaneously. Also, a field diary was used to record observations on the child’s skills and behavior during collections. From the research, it was verified a chronology of sound acquisition. In this way, the child first presents the babble, then the acquisition of the vowels, the nasal consonants, the plosive consonants, and finally the fricative consonants.
