Abstract: The growing world population entails one of the greatest challenges for breeders and researchers around the globe, the demand for food that may be able to meet human needs in order to eliminate food shortages. With the use of molecular marker technologies it is possible to reduce the waiting time to know the genetic load of the plant and its full potential. This research aims to evaluate new molecular markers of genetic purity. The research was carried out on the premises of Syngenta Crop Protection, located in the municipality of Uberlândia – MG, using a hybrid of commercial corn crop 2021/2022 and sixteen molecular markers of genetic purity using SNP technology. Of the markers used, eight are experimental with unknown behavior, which were compared with eight other known and consolidated markers. For the experiment, plant tissues were collected from the corn crop (Zea mays L.) on different days after corn emergence: 11, 16, 21, 30, 45 and 60 days and in varying amounts of plant tissue. The samples were subdivided and collected in the form of vegetable discs containing: 2, 4, 6 and 8 punches (vegetable discs) and also pieces of ±3 cm of plant tissue. The collected tissues were taken to the genotyping laboratory and analyzed with the intention of verifying the behavior of the markers to be tested and whether both will be efficient in capturing data of interest. With the molecular and statistical analyses, it was concluded that there were no significant differences between the treatments and both markers have similar expected behavior.
