The aim of this study was to examine the influence of matric potential of soil water on coffee yield, reporting its interference in the timing of flowering. The experiment was conducted in Lavras / MG, a coffee plantation with Acaiá MG-1474, located at distances of 3.0 x 0.6 m. The experimental design was a randomized block with three treatments (Article 1), 5 treatments (Article 2) and four replications. The treatments were: Article 1 (A1 = No irrigation (control), A2 = irrigation throughout the year when the plant consumed 25% of the total available water in 0-20 cm, A3 = irrigation only during April / May / jun. / Aug. / set. whenever the plant to consume 25% of the total available water in 0-20 cm), Article 2 (A = no irrigation, B = irrigation throughout the year when the plant consumed 75% of the total available water in 0-20 cm, C = irrigation throughout the year when the plant consumed 25% of the total available water in 0-20 cm, D = irrigation throughout the year is in jan / Feb / Mar / July / Oct / Nov / Dec plant consumed 25% of the total available water in 0-20 cm and in April / May / Jun / Aug / set the plant to consume 75% of the total available water at 0-20 cm and E = Irrigation in April / May / Jun / Aug / Sept when the plant consumed 25% of the total available water in 0-20 cm). The results showed that irrigation in southern Minas Gerais becomes essential during periods water restrictions for the plant, the irrigation was not able to reduce the significant number of flowers and irrigation management affect the productivity of coffee, providing gains years of production in high yield.
