Resumo
A questão da sazonalidade nas séries de preços alimentícios ocupa papel central na orientação dos produtores agrícolas e dos comerciantes, bem como na discussão e formação de políticas agrícolas do governo. Considerando ainda que os gastos das famílias brasileiras com alimentação, nos últimos anos, têm sido afetados por mudanças estruturais na renda e nos preços relativos o conhecimento das variações sazonais da ração essencial mínima é de grande relevância. Dessa forma o presente estudo é dedicado à análise das séries de custo da ração essencial mínina nas principais regiões metropolitanas brasileiras no período de janeiro de 1983 a dezembro de 2005. Como procedimento de ajuste sazonal utilizou-se o X-12-ARIMA. Os resultados revelaram que as regiões metropolitanas possuem o mesmo processo gerador, porém com comportamento sazonal distinto, sendo a estrutura sazonal alterada quando da utilização de deflatores e da conversão ao dólar. Observou-se também que a estabilização da economia brasileira a partir do Plano Real alterou a estrutura sazonal das séries analisadas.
The matter of seasonality among food prices has an important role to the orientation of agriculture producers and to merchants, as well as, in the discussion and creation of government agricultural policies. Considering, though, the expenses of Brazilian families in relation to food items, it has been affected by structural changes, in the lasts years, on the incomes and prices related to the understanding and knowledge of the seasonal variations of the minimal essential ration is of great relevance. Thus, this study refers to the minimal essential ration series of costs analysis in the main Brazilian metropolitan regions from January 1983 to December 2005. The X-12-ARIMA was used as seasonal adjustment procedure. The results revealed metropolitan regions possess the same generator process, but having a distinct seasonal behavior; the seasonal structure is altered when using deflationists and the conversion into dollar. It was observed as well the fact that Brazilian economy stability since "Plano Real" (economy plan inserted in Brazil) altered the seasonal structure of the series of cost.
