Abstract: This paper seeks to evaluate a short course on the ideas of nature, necessary to science teaching, using the History and Philosophy of Science (HPS)for undergraduates and graduates in Biology for the purpose of supporting the teaching of science and biology, and contribute for teacher training. The short course was divided into three parts: written account of the participants about their ideas of nature, slide show about the importance of the use of the HPS in teaching and, finally, one historical presentation of the ideas of nature using images. It may be noted that HPS showed to be a potentiator tool in the teaching of the ideas of nature and in teacher training.
