Abstract: Sonchus oleraceus L., popularly known as serralha is a species belonging to the family Asteraceae, widely used as a medicinal and food plant, rich in nutrients and antioxidant compounds. Despite all their versatility, commercial sawdust crops are rare due to the lack of knowledge about their cultivation and their effects on the chemical composition of this species. Thus, the objective of this study was to study the nutritional and bioactive properties according to the point of cultivation and harvesting of sawdust. The experiment was installed in a randomized block, with subdivided plots, with five repetitions. The parcel was formed by the system of cultivation (organic and conventional) and the subparcela by the harvest (harvest 1 and harvest 2). The variables analyzed were: dry mass, composition of mineral nutrients, Total Titrated Acidity (ATT), pH, Total Soluble Solids (SST) and SST/ATT ratio (Ratio), Chlorophyll a and b, total carotenoids, Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Lipid peroxidation (MDA), Superoxide dismutase (SOD)Catalase (CAT) and Ascorbate peroxidase (APX). The organic culture obtained better yield in dry mass and did not present great nutritional difference of the conventional one, however it presented higher content of P, Ca and Mo. The conventional culture showed higher values in physical and chemical characteristics. There was no significant difference between the treatments for the activity of the enzymes SOD, CAT and APX.
